Myofascial Release Charlotte NC For Fibromyalgia

By Marissa Velazquez

The physical therapeutic technique of myofascial release Charlotte NC was introduced by Andrew Taylor Still (1828 to 1917). He was, among other things, a surgeon and a physician and is credited with being the father of the science and practice of osteopathy. The technique is a gentle, non-invasive and safe way of treating complaints of the soft tissues with consistently favorable results.

What is MFR: The practice of MFR involves manipulating and massaging the connective tissue that acts as a support to the muscles as well as other tissues in the body. It relaxes muscles, stimulates the stretch reflex and improves the lymphatic and blood circulations. Movement of the the soft tissues can be hampered by infection, trauma, overuse, lack of activity or psychogenic conditions.

What is Fascia: The fascia is a layer of fibrous connective tissue that surrounds and supports blood vessels, nerves and muscle tissue. If you have ever had shoulder of lamb, you will have encountered a gossamer, sticky tissue in between the bones and the muscles. This is fascia.

Collagen fibers that make up the fascia are produced from immature cells called fibroblasts. Like ligaments and tendons, fascia performs a similar function of joining two types of tissue together. While ligaments connect bone to bone and tendons connect muscle to bone, fascia connects muscles to other structures.

When fascia goes wrong: The myofascia (muscle + fascia) is the main target of treatments for a very common and debilitating condition called Fibromyalgia. For many reasons, this soft tissue can become limited in range of motion. The cause may be trauma, overuse, inactivity or psychogenic disease. This results in reduced blood flow to the muscle tissues, restricted movement, fatigue and pain.

Types of MFR: MFR may be either direct or indirect. It may also be passive (patient relaxes and lets the practitioner get on with it) or active (patient participates in the treatment). The goal in direct MFR is to change the structure of the fascia in order to mobilize the tissues. Indirect MFR is performed in order to let the fascia "unwind."

Charlotte, North Carolina: The county seat of Mecklenburg, Charlotte is a gamma+ world city and a major financial center. Like the county, Charlotte is named in honor of Queen Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz and the wife of the English King George III. As a result, the city is nicknamed "Queen City." The local residents refer to themselves as Charlotteans. The city hosts two professional sports teams, the Carolina Panthers NFL football team and the Carolina Bobcats basketball team. The NASCAR Hall of Fame and the United States National Whitewater Center are both located here. Whitewater rafting is a good way to keep the fascial tissues supple.

The cost of living index in Charlotte is 61.46. This means that the cost of living here is less than 62 percent lower than the cost of living in New York. While there are insufficient figures to completely compare the quality of life in Charlotte compared to New York, it is less polluted, has a lower ratio of property price to income and it has a higher health care index (due to the availability of myofascial release Charlotte NC?). Perhaps surprisingly, you are no safer living here than you are in New York.
